Tokyo to Bangkok, six months, one bag that never gets unpacked.

This bag has not been fully unpacked in about two years. Things leave it and come back, but the core of it is the same 7 items, and I could pack it in four minutes.
Two of them cost under thirty dollars and do more work than anything else in here.
It goes under the seat, it holds a laptop, and it has never once looked like a travel bag. That combination is rarer than it sounds.
The one bag I would replace immediately if it were lost. It has been rained on, sat on, and shoved into overhead bins on four continents, and it looks better for it.
I bought the cheaper one first and replaced it inside a year. The wheels are the entire argument — you stop thinking about the bag and that is what you are paying for.

The travel size lives in my carry-on permanently. It’s the cream I put on in the airport bathroom in Doha and again, gratefully, in the hotel. Lavender-tinted, faintly floral, forgiving.
I have tested more sunscreens than is reasonable and this is the one I hand to people. It sinks in like a moisturizer, sits under foundation without rolling, and costs less than lunch. I buy it four at a time.
Not glamorous and not trying to be. This is the tube I reach for when I have overdone the actives, when the plane has dried me out, or when a new product has gone badly. It fixes things in a night.
One bag under the seat and one overhead, and the under-seat bag holds everything I would be upset to lose. That has been tested once, in Doha, and the system held.
Decant everything. Not for the liquid limit — for weight and for the fact that a full-size bottle will eventually open in your bag. Mine did, over a cashmere jumper, in 2023.

A tube of Cicaplast Baume B5 and a travel-size sunscreen. Together they are under forty dollars and they are the two things I would replace first.
